Toronto ceramicist Dawn Petticrew's work is often embellished with plant and floral patterning using a 10th century Spanish technique known as ‘Cuerda Seca’, meaning ‘dry cord’. Wax is applied as an outline, then different coloured and textured glazes are painted within, typically layered to create depth to the surface. This highly intricate approach to surface design allows her the freedom to dream big, creating colourful, flowing designs with forever evolving patterns, making each piece unique.
This rounded platter is decorated in her signature style - a work of art, as well as being an object of use. Dimensions in details.
