Toronto-based Baa Baazaar is a curated destination for vintage-inspired homewares (new and found), gifts, and objects with character. We believe that interiors should be collected, layered, and joyful; that each piece can carry meaning and make a space feel alive.

We source with intention: whether it’s a hand-thrown ceramic from a local maker, a glass piece revived from a past era, or a stationery design made for delight, our collection honours craft, quality and stories. The shop exists where past and present intertwine: rich textures, bold prints, playful colour, and objects that peek behind the curtain of ordinary.

Behind the scenes, the team at Baa Baazaar works to create not just a store but a gathering place. Located on Roncesvalles Avenue in Toronto's West end, we welcome you to explore, discover and linger, whether online or in-person. We believe in thoughtful service, shared curiosities, and the power of finding that perfect piece.

If you love a richly layered aesthetic, crave comfort with a twist, or are looking for something unexpected to spark a space, you’re in the right place. Thank you for joining our world of whimsy and comfort. We can’t wait to help you find your treasure.

Founder Story

Baa Baazaar was born...

from a fervent hope that someone inside Nicole Elsasser’s phone might want to talk with her about printed wallpaper, ceramic fruit, country cottages engulfed in soupy fog, or the mighty power of objects to hold meaning. With a newborn baby in her arms, Nicole started an instagram account & would share images of what she had found beautiful for as long as she could remember.

Nicole had spent a 90s suburban childhood pretending she was on the Yorkshire Moors, and the tension between her reality & fantasy formed a thin ridge on which her aesthetic sensibility dances like a cat with a fiddle. Eclectic down to her very bones, Nicole craves juxtaposition; the beautiful and the strange, in sweet sweet harmony.

Being a very logical and pragmatic child, Sophia loved to play pretend, but like...a very serious pretend. Playing store and house was more about creating the RIGHT space with the RIGHT items (even as a seven year old). She learned how to use her hands to create the toys and world she desired. As Sophia grew, she dreamed of having a shop, preferably one that looked like the bookstore from You've Got Mail. She learned how to sew a petticoat after her 300th viewing of Little Women (the one with Winona Ryder, of course). She found inspiration in the history and folk traditions of her Ukrainian culture. After going to film school, she honed her design skills working in set decoration and eventually founded a successful modern gift basket company, Present Day Gifts, in 2015. Through the years, Sophia has continued to use her hands, education and love of design to create beautiful spaces all around her.

One wintry night Sophia smiled at Nicole over a glass of wine and said "This Baa Baazaar thing, let's make it a shop."

Baa Baazaar was opened by both Sophia and Nicole in 2023. After 2 years of working together to build the Baa Baazaar brand, Nicole decided to follow an exciting opportunity to work in the fashion industry (her dream life!), and Baa Baazaar has since been owned solely by Sophia Pierro. They are both still very close friends and Nicole consults on the brand often.
