Dabu is a mud-resist block print technique that has been made famous in Rajasthan, India. Artisans create a mud mixture known as Dabu — it must be the right consistency to be applied with a wooden block, be taken up by the fabric, and to remain intact through the immersion dyebath. The mud acts to resist the dye.

The distinctive patterns known as “dabu” prints are the result of a wooden block being placed many times by an artisan’s hand - slight variations give the cloth life and are to be celebrated.

Measures approx. 60" x 60"

Gentle machine setting or hand washed with cool water. To protect the natural dyes, use a pH neutral liquid detergent*. Wash with similar colours. Immediately hang to dry in the shade or tumble dry on medium heat

*Ecos, Eucalan, Tru Earth (dissolve before adding) or a mild liquid detergent no higher than pH 7
